Meet The Team- Dave Chapman

David Chapman, 60, is a Business Development Manager here at Code A Weld. Born in the Scottish Borders, he enjoyed a great childhood without mobile phones, computers, and Facebook. "Great times", he says.

He studied Mechanical Engineering at Paisley College, after which he immediately began his career working as an engineer for Rolls Royce, Perkins Diesel, Dowty Mining and others.  He also did a wide variety of sub contract and consultant work.

After some 20 years, he combined these engineering skills with supplying metals in Aluminium, Steels and Titanium in supply chain management, factory management and business development before finally joining Code a Weld in his current role. So Dave comes to us with a tremendous 40-year background in engineering and materials. Most of all, he is passionate about British Engineering.

The Challenges

"If there is a problem with our reputation or our performance, I am the external face of Code a Weld. I have to win new customers of course but I also follow up after the first job, and again after the first few jobs. Bad performance could give me some very bad days", Dave says.

The Good Days

"It is the best feeling when you phone a customer and get told "Brilliant job - they did everything you said they would - and all the results were on time" We are winning new business because we repeatedly offer better and faster service than most of our competitors."

"When I ask for leads to other companies, I get them fairly easily because our customers are happy to recommend us", he says.

Besides Work...

When he is not working, Dave enjoys spending time with his partner and his lovely old rescue dog. He still follows his boyhood love - motorbikes -and rides a Triumph America.

Dave also invests his time doing charity work. He is a committee member and treasurer of a Christian based charity in Northampton which goes out on the streets of Northampton every Friday night to help the homeless with food, hot drinks, clothing, sleeping bags, a civilised chat and a prayer if needed. They also offer guidance to help them get off the streets.
