If you're a trainee welder  proficient in MMA, TIG and MIG/MAG welding, then applications are now open for you to participate in SkillWeld 2016, the UK's most prestigious welding competition.

As this article states, Code A Weld will offer candidates with the best quality welds at the regional round a chance to achieve their BS EN ISO 9601-1 welder qualifications.

The first round involves registering for the regional heats and completing passive heats at your college or at your employer where you're currently being trained. Those with a score of at least 250 points can then register for the live regional heats.

The top ten scorers in this round will compete on a national level at the Skills Show, held at the NEC Birmingham in November. Candidates will have the chance to prove themselves on an international stage.

Entry to the first round is open till the end of March. Find out about the competition in more detail here.
