Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card is often an essential requirement by many principal contractors for working on construction sites within the U.K. and there are now additional steps you need to take to allow for construction site access . If you are new to site work or your CRO card is due to expire, you will need to ensure you have carried out the following: a welder approval test, health and safety test and a job knowledge test in a welding process of your choice.

Construction Related Occupation (CRO) Cards

This card was available to people working in construction related occupations not covered by other CSCS cards. The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) has withdrawn the Construction Related Occupation (CRO) card. The withdrawal of the CRO card is seen as a practical step towards achieving the Construction Leadership Council’s requirement of ensuring nationally recognised qualifications are in place for all construction related occupations

What does this mean?

CSCS stopped issuing CRO cards on 1st April 2017
CRO cards issued since 1st October 2015 expired on 30th September 2017
CRO cardholders must take further steps to replace their CRO cards before they expire.
